The CPMD consortium has been established in 2001 in order to coordinate the development and distribution of the CPMD code. It is a virtual organization that comprises all the users and developers of the CPMD code around the world. This organization is coordinated by Dr. Alessandro Curioni (Manager, Computational Sciences, IBM Zurich Research Laboratory) and was founded by Prof. Michele Parrinello (ETH Zurich) and Prof. Wanda Andreoni (EPFL and Director of CECAM).
CPMD is jointly copyrighted by IBM Corporation and Max-Planck Institut, Stuttgart.
